BrightQuery Secures Three Prestigious NSF Awards: Leading the Future of Factual AI in Data Solutions

At BrightQuery, we are bringing a future where data doesn’t just inform—it drives powerful, actionable decisions. With three new projects awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), we’re advancing AI and data accessibility across critical domains. These projects reflect our commitment to making complex data intuitive and usable, from enabling researchers to explore vast educational datasets to helping government leaders make rapid, evidence-based policy decisions.

Dr. Jose M. Plehn, Founder and CEO of BrightQuery, is the Principal Investigator for all three projects. With a Ph.D. in Economics, he has over a decade of experience leading transformative initiatives in AI-driven data solutions across diverse sectors. His expertise in developing hybrid AI models has positioned BrightQuery at the forefront of factual AI innovation.

Through these NSF-backed initiatives, BrightQuery is delivering Factual AI™ tools that turn data into a strategic asset. Our approach to factual AI bridges the gap between raw information and clear insight, empowering our partners with clarity and confidence in every decision.

Transforming Data Access Across Sectors

Our NSF awards highlight our work across critical domains: educational research, public policy, and government operations. While each project targets unique goals, together they form a cohesive vision for what’s possible with advanced data access and AI-enhanced solutions.

1. Data Access Alternatives, Artificial Intelligence-Supported Interfaces

Lead Agency: National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NCSES)

Funding Agency: National Science Foundation (NSF)

Award Amount: $1.4M awarded in August 2024

Award Link: Data Access Alternatives: Artificial Intelligence Supported Interfaces (DAA-24)

Summary: This project focuses on creating AI-driven interfaces to improve data accessibility for scientific and educational datasets. As Factual AI™ and data processing are part of this project, our approach focuses on reliability and usability for education and public policy sectors.

2. Building Capacity for State, Local, and Territorial Governments to Use Administrative Data for Evidence-Building

Lead Agency: Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)

Funding Agency: National Science Foundation (NSF)

Learn More: Project Details

Award Link: Building Capacity for State, Local, and Territorial Governments to Use Administrative Data for Evidence-Building (ADEB-24)

Award Amount: $1.26M awarded in August 2024

Summary: This project supports state and local governments by providing our Factual AI™-driven platform that allows governments to act on evidence-based insights for proactive policy decisions.

3. AI-Ready Data Products to Facilitate Discovery and Use (AI-RD-24)

Lead Agency: Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA)

Funding Agency: National Science Foundation (NSF)

Learn More: Project Details

Award Link: AI-Ready Data Products to Facilitate Discovery and Use (AI-RD-24)

Award Amount: $1.00M awarded in September 2024

Summary: The objective of this project is to explore how a future National Secure Data Service (NSDS) could provide shared information and tools for making statistical data products more readily ingestible by AI technologies. These resources support federal agencies and their partners throughout the data and evidence ecosystem as they balance the risks and rewards of leveraging generative AI to expand the reach of their statistics. Our Neuro-Symbolic Multi-Agent System embodies Factual AI™ principles, ensuring secure, AI-compatible data sharing across agencies.

Driving the Future of Data-Driven Decision-Making

Each of these NSF-backed projects is part of a larger vision at BrightQuery: to empower a future where data is not just accessible, but integral to every major decision. By developing AI tools that translate complex information into clear, actionable insights, we’re building a foundation that goes beyond immediate applications. Our solutions are designed to serve as essential infrastructure—bridging gaps between raw data, practical analysis, and high-impact decisions across government, education, and beyond.

BrightQuery’s Factual AI™ is setting a new standard in data accessibility and usability, making actionable insights a foundational asset across sectors. Whether we’re enhancing data tools for educators, enabling evidence-based policymaking, or paving the way for AI-ready data in government, our mission remains the same: to transform how information flows and decisions are made in every field we touch. As these projects unfold, we’re excited to lead the charge in redefining data’s role in decision-making, setting the stage for a future where actionable insights are the foundation of progress.
