About BrightQuery
The trusted source of verified business intelligence - powering smarter decisions across finance, compliance, and growth.
Who We Are
BrightQuery ("BQ") is the definitive source of accurate, government-verified data on businesses worldwide. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Irvine, California, BrightQuery began as a domestically focused data provider - building its foundation on official filings from more than 100,000 federal, state, and local government agencies. Over time, BrightQuery has expanded significantly beyond its domestic origins to become a truly global data platform, now covering 222 countries and tracking 274 million organizations, 226 million legal entities, and 1.2 billion people worldwide. This global expansion reflects BQ’s mission to make the world more factual - one dataset at a time - and positions BQ as the most comprehensive government-verified entity database on the planet. BQ’s data model is built on the concept of the Five Pillars of the Economy - a unified entity framework that mirrors how the real world operates: organizations doing business, legal entities holding ownership, people making decisions, locations operating facilities, and addresses anchoring everything in physical space.
Unlike providers that rely on self-reported information, scraped websites, or investor-facing documents, BQ sources data from official government filings -- including the IRS, Department of Labor, SEC, Small Business Administration, Postal Service, and more than 100,000 federal, state, and local agencies -- and enriches it with public web sources where government coverage is limited. The result is a comprehensive, continuously updated database covering over 85 million active and inactive companies, from Fortune 500 multinationals to sole proprietors, with financial history stretching back to 2017.
